SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, that is used to confirm whether an e-mail message was sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain name makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time some email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies whether it comes from an accredited server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will mask an e-mail address to make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

When you host your domain names in a hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mails for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you will be able to see which domains are currently protected. For those which aren't, you can enable the SPF protection option and manage a lot of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, and you can use it when we manage the e-mails for your domain names and you are not using a different e-mail supplier. The newly created records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is provided with all the semi-dedicated hosting services, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you're able to use this particular service effortlessly for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a rather user-friendly interface, therefore you don't need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your emails. You will only need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you've selected. As an additional option, we'll also allow you to restrict your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain in question features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of on our end and not by another supplier. By doing so you'll get even superior control and there will not be a chance for someone to forge your email addresses for malicious activities.
